Information for Groups Attending
|
The Blair Atholl Showcase is for the young professional groups attending to use for consolidating/studying existing repertoire, for studying new works and above all to gain vital performing experience. The Showcase 2008 runs from the evening of Saturday 3 May until the morning of Monday 12 May. All performers attending are expected to make their own way to Lude, Blair Atholl either by car or public transport to arrive by 6pm on 3 May and will depart after breakfast on 12 May. Concerts There are four main recitals during the Showcase. There is a private concert at Lude Steading hosted by Lavinia Gordon on Wednesday 7 May where a few shorter works will be performed for an hour or so. The public recitals at the Lude House take place on the evenings of Friday 9 and Saturday 10 May and on the morning of Sunday 11 May. It is expected that each group will perform at least two main works at these recitals. Daily Schedule The daily schedule is structured into 4 sessions which are arranged between the Tutors and the Artistic Director but very much in conjunction with the performers' own preferences. The daily sessions are timetabled as follows: 9.30am - 11am, 11.30 - 1pm and 2.30pm - 4pm, 4.30pm - 6pm The evenings are free on non concert days. The Tutors & Staff will stay at Lude Steading. Young Musicians will be staying either in Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Blair Atholl (10 minutes walk from Lude) or at Lude House itself. Lunch, dinner and snacks will all available at Lude Steading during the day. The final Sunday afternoon is an informal public performance where anything goes! If individuals wish to bring something to perform that is fine or often groups mix and match a little and sight read through repertoire for fun. There is always room for some highly eccentric items at this relaxed afternoon finale to the Showcase! The whole Showcase is rounded off with a traditional Celidh on the Sunday evening with a live band. Departure will be after breakfast on Monday 12 May. Outreach Programme Most groups will be involved in our Outreach Programme of local school workshops and these will all take place in the first afternoon session on most days. All groups should arrive prepared for undertaking a school workshop and should think about suitable repertoire for the event. ____________________________ All performers should feel free to contact the Artistic Director at any time if they have any questions about the Showcase.
